Buhari Slashes The Federal Ministries From 29 to 25...


According to a report in Punch, President Muhammadu Buhari have slashed the Federal Ministries from 29 to 25 ahead of the swearing-in of the 36 incoming ministers holding today, Wednesday, November 11 at the presidential villa, Abuja.
The ministries of Police Affairs, Aviation and Special Duties, appear to have been scrapped while Ministries of Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Works have been merged to become Ministry of Works and Housing.
Similarly, the Information, Culture, National Orientation and Tourism Ministries have been collapsed into one Ministry of Information and Culture while the Ministries of Sports as well as Youth Development have also been merged to form the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development.
Among other mergers, the Ministry of Aviation is now under the Ministry of Transportation, as the president retired 17 permanent secretaries and announced the appointment of 18 new ones in a decision taken on Tuesday, November 10, 2015.
According to a top government official who spoke a correspondent on Tuesday; “The pattern of the list you see in the statement may be a sign of what to come as far as the number of ministries to be maintained by the President are concerned.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has announced the names of the new Permanent Secretaries for the Federal Government. The total number of new appointees is 54, including 18 placed in the Federal Civil Service. The statement noted that their appointment takes immediate effect.
