A female student of the Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, in Ogun State, Folashade Leshi, is currently in serious pains after a soldier who is part of the security team of her school, pounced on her and battered her blue black because she insisted on sitting for her examination.

According to an Entertainment Journalist, Mutiat Alli, Leshi, a student in the Department of Mass Communication, had stood her grounds after the soldier refused to allow her to enter the examination hall if she did not pay a certain amount of money the school had charged all the students over an earlier disturbance.

Leshi had told the soldier that she had her money with her in cash but the soldier insisted she would have to go to a bank and make the payment and she reasoned that before she got to the bank and made the payment, she could miss sitting for her exams.

This argument was said to have infuriated the soldier who descended on her and battered her severely.

This is what Alli wrote on her Instagram page:

"Aggrieved students of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, have cried foul over a fellow colleague from the department of Mass Communication, identified as Leshi Folashade, who was bartered by the school security (soldier), having stood her ground that she will be writing her exams since she has her cash with her as damage payment mandated on all students."

According to a close colleague who claimed anonymity, it all started when the Cisco office in the institution got burnt thereby affecting the continuation of exams as students were mandated to make a contribution of 5,000 each via POS.

Leshi Folashade who could not make the payment as at when due, came in with her cash to the exam premises but was denied entry into school premises as the soldiers insisted that the payment was late.

Shade's refusal to leave the school entrance gate warranted the security men to rough-handle her, denying over 100 final students who could not make payment.

With several injuries inflicted on her, the soldiers refused to let her go.  Insiders however disclosed that having informed the Rector of the institution of the situation on ground, the Rector felt no remorse about it.

Folasade was later driven to 'Topan' police station by DSA (Miss Jokotagba) where she was detained for no cause.

The aggrieved students equally noted that Prof. Jumoke bIlesanmi Awoderu (the Rector), is not doing anything on the case as Folashade has equally been denied access to her lawyer.

At about 10pm today, Jumoke was released but we students of the school insisted that we want the government to intervene and the matter taken to court."

Watch Videos How Students were Shot From The Uniport Protest..

Letters from students written in tears.

It was a #Peaceful #Demonstration, the Assistant Commissioner of #Police addressed Students and we all agreed to remain calm. Our sole #request was to see the Vice Chancellor, and hear from him if he has extended the #deadline for #registration till one week before second semester exam. The Asst. Commissioner of Police called the #Rivers #State Commissioner of #Police and told him what was happening. Later on, the Vice #Chancellor brought a message through the Deputy CSO, #University of Port Harcourt that the Students should send 5 nominees for #negotiation. Meanwhile, information reached us that the Vice Chancellor has ordered the #arrest of those leading the peaceful demonstration. But there was no exact leader because SUG Uniport President was there, Faculty Presidents were fully on ground, State Presidents and Ethnic leaders ec cetera were all actively involved. So it was difficult to send five scape goats to the Vice Chancellor. Then the Asst. #Commissioner of Police with some of his men together with the Deputy CSO went to meet the Vice Chancellor. When they returned, they started arresting Students and #shooting indiscriminately, which lead to the death of about 3 students, leaving so many others injured. Management Faculty President, Comr. Peter was confirmed dead. It was after this that students went rogue and started agitating. The Vice Chancellor and his mouthpiece, Williams Wodi should be asked for the account of lives they claimed yesterday. This morning, they activated Army to beat up Nigerian Students. They're still #arresting Students' leaders even as I compose this post. Prof. #Lale's #administration have recorded a lot of bloodshed within the last few months. I advise Nigerian Students to leave #vengeance for God. I have no #personal grievance against anybody, the interest of the Students is my interest. May the #souls of sir P and the departed #Comrades rest in perfect peace. Amen.

Rt. Hon. Andrew Osose Ojeabulu, #Edo National

In addition, whatever happened to Nigerian students yesterday, whatever decision the police made yesterday, the Vice-chancellor and all his aid should account for them. The police supported us until they where told to go contrary by our said management. Myself Comr Daniel, Comr Anthony & Comr Itoro where almost shot by military men @ delta gate except for God that spared our lives.

The struggle still continues least the death of Comr Peter be in vain.
A Comr will always say that no man is an island including Lale.
Whatever he thinks he has or knows there are people that know more.
For me, I will always stand with the truth.
ALUTA CONTINUA!
VICTORY MUST BE ASCERTAINED!!!

The Nigerian Police Force Denies there were no casualties in Uniport Protest. "No Uniport Student or Policeman lost their lives during the Protest"_DSP.

This got me wondering, if the NPF are here to protect us or to protect their personal gains.

UNIPORT: No life was lost during students’ protest – Police ON APRIL 11, 20168:09 PMIN NEWSCOMMENTS 22 0 1 0 Rivers Police Command on Monday denied that there were casualties during a protest by students of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT). The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Muhammad, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt. He said that there was no casualty on the part of the police or students during the violent protest by the students over a “no tuition fee-no examination fee” policy introduced by the UNIPORT management. “No student or policeman lost their lives during the UNIPORT protest. “The policeman reported dead had nothing to do with UNIPORT, because the deceased policeman was shot dead by armed robbers in an isolated case. “Similarly, no university student was killed to the best of my knowledge. “All roads earlier blocked by the protesting students have been reopened by the police,” he said Muhammad said the police was cooperating with UNIPORT management to ensure that normalcy was restored on campus and host communities. Earlier, UNIPORT’s Deputy Registrar (Information), Dr Williams Wodi, told NAN that two persons, including a policeman lost their lives in the violent protest. The spokesman said the policeman was shot dead at a junction along the East West inter-state road, close to the university. “Also, another person whose identity had not been confirmed was also shot dead on Monday during the protest which lasted for several hours,” Wodi said. NAN reports that management of UNIPORT had announced the closure of the university for one month following the students’ protest over new tuition fee policy on Monday in Port Harcourt. UNIPORT management had in 2015, adopted a policy which made tuition fee a prerequisite for students’ participation in examination, a policy which compelled defaulting students to repeat a whole academic session. The protest which initially started on a peaceful note, later turned violent with students destroying school property worth millions of naira. They demanded the withdrawal of the policy, which they argued, was unfair to poor students.
